Caseback is very faint and looks like it's been opened by a less than sympathetic watchmaker, but fundamentally sound. I've never seen the 12 o'clock bezel market like that and assume that it's a 'home project' rather than a LIP thing.

Why is it called a "RAQUEL WELCH EDITION"? Just asking because first time I've seen a 765 refered to as that.

Well, would have been interesting to know if someone did exchange their Rolex 1675 or 1680 for it. Either way the entry level for the 1675 or 1680 is about the 4.5-7K mark (not the rare variants) without box and papers so that's the max the seller was asking for. Whether he did get that much for it, that's a mystery in the thread, maybe we will know when this auction ends. Looks like a nice watch though and has papers too.

red inserts were available, though this one is clearly a rather unprofessional restoration attempt.

IMO 5K usd is a bit steep with current prices and i wonder if he got anything close to that 4 years ago, even with papers. Condition of that piece is fair but nowhere close to what I expect for 5K

765 cp's are hard to find, the lip versions even harder to find but i would be really surprised if the french piece or the bill shaine piece go as high as 4K . We'll see when the auction is ended i guess

San, thanks, but please no full quotes, it makes the thread unreadable ?
could u please edit yr post ?

Renè, VRF and Shaine are clearly the same watch; will be interesting to see where that goes.

@rainbowfix; you write "Looks like really not much specimen of breitling copilot - lip", what do you mean by that, watch looks correct ?

Done Fred. Maybe he means that not many copilot-lip dual branded watches exist.

I didnt even notice  I am getting old
but that makes it even more interesting to watch to see where it goes
if condition were better I would have thrown in a last bid myself but the bezel is too worn for my taste

Just saw the papers on the Bill Shaine / French piece
serial is 108xxx , case was made in 1967 . The watch was sold however 10 years later ! in 1976

these must not have sold very well back in the day

Well Rene, Bill is gonna be toting the big bag o' cash to the bank on this one. 3 days left and at $3.8k. Got a very good feeling this dude easily rides north of $5k.
