interesting piece. seller has listed this for more than two years iirc, on bot c24 and ebay - calls it "mint", though it's far from it. the dial is the only one I've ever seen in bi-color blue & black, but the print might be original ? hands seem off, but that form was used on very early pieces and is documented in advertisements and catalogs. a "good" purchase price is tough to name, the market has clearly decided the asking is way too high - €1.2k might be realistic. documenting this here, as the dial is really quite extraordinary, would love others to comment ? ![]() |

Yes, my thoughts are the same on dial as well Fred. Also, I have not seen the centre scale not printed on to the sub dials before. Missing the patent number as well. I noticed the mint reference as well and as you say, its far from it. Also noticed that the text is not raised as on slightly later models. Mine has embossed text where as this one seems to be flat on the dial. |

I have always discarded this piece as I believe the dial is an (old?) reprint uneven spaced between the cardinal markers , not what I expect to see on an original dial |

Dial looks like it's been repainted over an old completely faded or washed dial. The hr/min/sec hands are later replacements. The lack of case wear doesn't match with the dial condition. Pushers are really crisp, crown is a replacement, and the lack of a signed bridge on a 1946 piece is unusual. Asking price is laughable. |

I have always thought that the dial was an older attempt at restoration - not necessarily a fake per se, rather someone's attempt to recover a damaged dial many years ago. The watch itself is (in my opinion) an amalgam of pieces, maybe all Breitling, but not born together. |

Thanks guys for all the input. I talked. After looking again at the listing, the face is definitely reprinted. I talked to the seller and he won't come off the price near far enough to make this a buy in my eyes. Thanks again for y'all's expert opinion. I'll keep looking. Take care |
