Good evening again.

I got a hint from a friendly member of this forum. Thanks a lot for that.

What do the experts now think about this watch?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/400584018036?ss ... 1555.l2649

Better than my last buy?

Please let me know the differences between both breitlings.

incomparable, actually - the opposite end of the quality spectrum in all respects.

very reliable seller, beautiful and very rare early waterproof tricompax chrono in excellent, original condition.

extremely rare Cotes de Geneve decorated movement with BOW (Breitling USA) import marking; very, very nice.

You cannot go wrong with this example. Strong in all areas. This is what you look for in a vintage piece.
My opinion.

Fred is VERY knowledgeable on these pieces and I for one take his opinions to heart. He is also a straight shooter. If it is a nice piece he calls it and if it is crap he calls that too. No grey area. That is what you want and I want.

Disadvantages... At this point you have been given solid info. Only disadvantage I see is not learning from what you have been taught. Buying or not is up to you.

Best of Luck,
Wayne

. . . and 788 are very nice watches, since Breitling Corp of America was established in July 1947, here we have an example of a case bought in 1945 and made up for retail sometime in 1947, probably after July.

There's nothing wrong with this watch and it's a very fine example, just to say that dating Breitlings with the serials only gives us the year the case was bought.

And, a very happy and restful holiday season to all my Breitling colleagues, most all of whom have been good boys and girls this year. I'm expecting a lump of coal in my stocking . . . Not only a disappointment, but bad for the environment.
