Just shows how little I know - all part of the learning experience. Was rather thrown by the sellers description that the watch back was engraved 'King Hussein of Jordan' which I thought rather suspect, but again what do I know. Cheers and thanks. |

I have since learned a very interesting point about these King Hussein watches which we so rarely see. It was considered an extreme act of disrespect for you to sell one of these watches given to you as a gift, especially by King Hussein. While he was still alive, if a gift like this was found to be for sale it was purchased back and any dealing that you might have with the Kingdom were terminated. Not all the of these watches were personal gifts of course but ordered by the Kingdom and given for special occasions or to commemorate something, etc. The fact that is was a sign of disrespect to sell one during his life might contribute to why they are seen so rarely. Pretty cool stuff I thought. |
