I was thinking about buying an old Breitling and was wondering if it was real and if it was what kind it is. Here are the pictures: |

OK thanks. I guess there's a reason I couldn't find anything that looked like it. |

Very lazy faker - couldn't even be bothered to remove Chronographe Suisse from the dial. |

I had one more question. I wanted to get a 40s or 50s chronomat if the last one wasn't real. I found a history of the chronomat website http://forums.watchuseek.com/f39/breitl ... -9103.html and I'm trying to compare pictures of prospective watches to the pictures on that page. I'm just not sure if that's enough. For example, pictures on these two seem to match a 40s and a 50s model, respectively: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STAINLE ... 43c10d1302 http://www.ebay.com/itm/BREITLING-CHRON ... 4174289c4d but I have no idea if they're actually real. Is comparing the pictures enough, or do I need the help of a real expert? |

both real, though the 2nd piece is quite optimistically priced even in what seems to be a rising market for Chronomat 769s - 2nd watch also is an example of a post-53 dial in a late 1940s case; I am convinced these are legitimate, as we have seen many of them, most probably due to large stocks of 1940s ref. 769 cases; others disagree. |
