I appreciate it's been on eBay for a while now at a ridiculously high price, the seller is also selling a redialled 810 and advertising it as an automatic, however I digress ...

.. what does everyone think of this watch, seems fine to me and seems to match a model from the 1946 catalogue, in the low end model section. Does the dial look fine as it is? - is the colour original?

P.S. Sorry about the rather large picture !!

Not entirely convinced, any other photos available - caseback, movement, etc?

Case looks fine, nice to see it without Breitling on the caseback. Movement shots would be nice, it's a gamble without that. The dial looks a little too new for my liking, if it's a redial then it's a good one, so it may just have been cleaned.

Thank you. It's a shame that this type of watch seem so heavily over priced these days!! Whatever happened to the time that a half decent watch could be picked up reasonable by a half decent enthusiast, without extortion or deceit being involved.

Oh well !!

Highly doubt that this will sell for the price being asked. There are bargains out there, sadly often selling for less than the faked ones.

I agree, it's been up for a while though and sometimes the seller will be interested in a sensible bid. His 810 is the highest priced Top Time though, by some margin, so maybe not.

Imho the dial is a redo. Nice job though. Nos 178 cases have been for sale on ebay for a few months now which is why this one probably looks so good. Most of the Venus 170 movements in the ref 178 are unmarked anyway so the movement shot won't be all the helpful unless improperly marked.

Paul,

Thank you. The prob I had was the case seemed too new for the dial, but I guess you just explained that one :-)

They rejected my very low offer, so perhaps we will see it around for a while.
