How impossible to find the correct bezel???

Concerned that there are no movement pics, especially on a watch this rare. Bezel will be very difficult to find, and very expensive if you do find it.

Yeah it was a good price. I wonder if the seller realises how much it cost them not to put a movement pic in the listing.

I had the distinct impression that the seller was either bidding on his own auction or having someone else do it since the winner had 0 feedback and hadn't bid on anything else. I stopped bidding on it when I realized that because I don't like getting played. I'm pretty sure Rene has more feedback than 0. I figured the highest legitimate bidder would get a second chance offer once the auction was over and it looked like that happened. Still not a bad deal and I figured someone would step up and buy it that already had the spare bezel.

Sorry Paul :D , but you werent played

I tried to bid on it with my own regular account but somehow it wouldnt let me , I then created a new account with Ebay and it would allow me to bid

I think the watch is worth buying without movement shots as the case , dial , hands etc look in great shape and the bezel can be fitted quite easily . Bezels are , as we all know, 'Hen's teeth' but they sometimes are offered and worth the wait , even if you have to pay a few 100 euro's / $'s

Now its off to Craig who will service it when he has time

sorry Fred

strange actually , there are only 4 unique bidders on this AVI. And at least 3 of those are on this forum .

Now this can mean that 1) we overestimate the desirability of Vintage Breitling watches and we're actually outbidding ourselves all the time driving up prices , or 2) it proves the seller should have done a much better job with the description.

for my own piece of mind i'll go with 2

Glad to hear there were no funny things going on. I will never try and outbid a zero feedback bidder just because I do see a lot of shill bidding. Won't accept a second chance offer either if the winner had zero feedbacks. Just a personal thing I guess. The movement was of the least concern for me on this watch. I usually have extra 178's and 175's laying around in various conditions so a incorrect movement isn't a totally a deal buster. I wish I didn't sell my spare nos Copilot bezel a few years back but thought, at the time, I wouldn't ever use it. Nice catch Rene!

I know what you mean with selling the bezel

when I was still young and stupid I once sold this lot on Ebay , thinking "I have enough spares, and when I run out I just buy some more when I need them" .. yeah right . hindsight and all ...

just returned from Craig for a full service
I dont know the exact age as I havent opened it yet but the dial, hands and case are in great condition
back engravings are still really crisp

For now I put a mesh on but it will have a dark brown calf or croc strap for wearability

now the long search , might take years, for a bezel is on

wonderful piece, case, dial & hands are in spectacular condition !

as you didn't let me grab that one, Renè - just days later this '63 came up; happy you decided not to compete.
nice patina, decent dial - and a bezel !

now I'm searching for the correct minute counter hand, any help appreciated; Lester is not reacting to emails and pm, hasn't listed anything on ebay.uk for some time, hope he's ok and just on a long vacation.

Thanks Fred ! I agree with your condition assessment :D

I didnt decide not to compete , I must have missed the auction completely !
Great piece and a bezel (any bezel !) just completes the watch

I will see if I have a phone number for Lester and will send it to you if I have it

Yes, I am the one that got the bidding started on this watch. And I can tell you it was not for lack of trying but this seller would not post movement images. That is what made me pull the plug. I fall under the Chuck Maddox rule, never buy a watch without seeing the movement. Did that once and boy did it bite me. Glad it paid off for you my friend and it looks awesome. I would be strutting around with that on without the bezel like no one's business.

At least with a name like mine you'll know when I'm bidding. :D
