Hello experts -

Shopping for an 806, and hoping the experts could please let me know your thoughts on these:

1. love the crustiness of this one -
www.ebay.com/itm/130881759174

2. clean looking piece -
www.ebay.com/itm/390569880022

3. offering from a well known seller -
www.ebay.com/itm/330901801541

Basically, I'd like something original...

Thank you, Experts, very much for your kind opinions.
-Paul

all three are correct, Bill's is by far the nicest, although he has his typical "cut and paste" description errors again. no.1 is truly rough as you say, though a correct crystal and a good cleaning will make it absolutely wearable.

Roff, u might remember my NOS orange "boxed10" GP, it is from early 65, so quite possible, I think ?

That's definitely a large sub-register dial on an overpolished mid-1960s case.

I have it down that the "boxed" red "10"s were made sometime in 1967 to be very shortly followed by the red "10"s and other red markings.

Boxed 10s generally accepted as 67, though Fred's piece is the exception. I'm really not too happy with Bill's as being a legitimate 64.

Hi Paul, not liking the first two because of their condition, Bills one looks better but he has been coming with some questionable pieces of late and using tricky English in his ads causing me to be wary of this one. Plus the lume doesn't look very good. I would look hard for authentic pieces from reputable sources since good 806's are hard to come by. Besides that, a SS 806 is more collectible than a GF one in my opinion though must say the GF ones look great.

Do post pics when you find one!

That's a nice looking one though maybe check if the lume has flaked in some places, esp 5,7 and 8 and also get opinions of others here. The seller is a very reputed vintage Rolex guy who gives honest descriptions and info, so should be able to answer queries on the watch's lume, etc. This is his website
http://sheartime.com/new and you will find mention of his credentials here http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=180461
I also see that Bill tried buying that watch on ebay off him with an offer of 4k sometime ago when it was at "make an offer", but was declined. All the best!
