Recently purchased a "Factory Original Vintage Breitling Chronograph 18k Solid Rose Gold Men's Watch" via eBay, and I'm somewhat concerned about the authenticity of the piece. The seller looks to have a great reputation however and the feedback is generally fantastic. I do have concerns about the model as it is a "Cadette", and I haven't found out too much about these "Cadette's" except in a thread where many consider them to be a "creation" watch as there is little to no documentation about these pieces. Also serial numbers were not presented but the reference number provided by the seller is apparently 230. The Venus 170 manual wind movement appears to be correct and there are multiple Breitling signatures on the piece which seem correct, but once again I'm not entirely sure. Helpful feedback would be much appreciated! Pics below.. http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/sho ... 0&format=0 Hope the link works |

Just reviewed the pictures on a higher zoom with better resolution and saw that the signature on the case back looks like a sad joke and the one on the movement looks shady as well. Super dissapointed as I paid a steep price for the piece... Should have conducted more research prior to making an offer. If I am wrong however and it is authentic please let me know! Thanks......also does anyone know if it is possible to cancel an uncleared PayPal transaction?? it does not give me the option to cancel on the order page but maybe if I called there would be a way to do it without me having to face penalties such as paying the seller a 10 percent restocking fee or something of that nature? |

yes, it is a pathetic fake, not a " Factory original vintage Breitling" watch has a typical "Chronographe Suisse" case, hollow lugs, paper thin gold back cover, metal caseback; these cases were never used by Breitling. "230" is not a correct reference number for a Venus 170 Breitling (would be 17x), it does not carry a serial number, like any correct Breitling of the period would. the "signatures" are all wrong - there was never a "Sprint" that looked like this, the capitals "Breitling" is wrong for the period, the engraving on the back is, as you say, a sad joke. paypal will protect you here - you can open a "item not as described" case, though I assume the seller will accept to cancel the purchase ? seller vintagetraderonline used be from Florida, now Brazil, interesting - good feedback by hundreds of people who know rather little and love to believe the stupid stories they are told, just have a look at the Girard he has on offer.... ![]() |

Couldn't agree with you more, thanks for the insight. I have issued a case with PayPal and hope to get it resolved within the near future. Cheers, elohtee |
