Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and vintage Breitling watches. I have fallen for the vintage 806's hard! As a result I'm looking for a few experts to size up an ebay auction that is ending this evening that I have been seriously considering for over a week.

I'm sure some of you have seen this watch but for auction;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NR-MINT-BEADED- ... 6664305%26

I have read everything I can get my hands on in the last 7 days so I'm not ignorant to the topic, the watch seems as advertised but I certainly would love a little help for some experienced eyes!?

-Is the watch legit? I emailed with the seller and he claims it is %100 original.
-Is this as scarce and collectable as suggested? Good future outlook?
-Where would you put fair market value on this piece?

Thank you in advance.

Known seller and I would say that Bill's description is accurate. Rare is relative, 63 806s aren't particularly rare although because of the transitional nature of the period there are a number of variations so this particular combination is a little less common, but that doesn't mean more valuable.

It has a little value left in it I guess at current pricing ($2,700 as I type this).

Thanks for the insight, I went ahead and put in a bid with a few seconds and came away the winner.

My first vintage Breitling! Can't wait to get it on my wrist. Thanks again.

Congrats on your first 806 purchase. Just so that you know, the lume on some of the plots on the dial have fallen off or flaked but if you can overlook that which I wouldn't since the dial is a critical part of a vintage watches value, looks a nice example otherwise. Refer Kurts articles for info on Navitimers and enjoy the watch.

Thank you everyone. I did see the lume had flaked off, I assume this watch would have attracted more attention and ultimately sold for more money had if been intact?

I'm planning on wearing this watch, and from what I can tell from my research even despite the condition of the lume, $3000 is reasonable for am original example? Although it will never be a sought after as one in pristine condition, I like to think as long as it is kept in good original condition the watch will maintain it's value and look damn good on my wrist! :D

Right on.Welcome to BS. Congratulations on a great iconic Breitling. Wear it well. As you said it will look great on your wrist and will attract alot of compliments!! To me and others there is nothing like a vintage watch. Watch out they can become addicting.
