serial number would date it to the late 1930s , interesting.

The ref # all the way back to the 1930's would be a dead give away; that something was wrong. Such a modern watch with such an old reference number.

I'd give him $50 for the 7736 movement though, assuming its a real V7736. I have a watch project on the go that could use that one and I could see myself ripping the movement out and junking the rest. I don' think I would get a deal though.
