Hello,
First time here, and definitely newbie.
I found this auction on EBay Italy:
http://www.ebay.it/itm/321049420351?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_4694wt_1057

I could not find any reference to a Brietling cal 19 movement, but may be I searched in a wrong way due to my inexperience.
Can you gurus spot if it is an obvious fake or not? Should the watch be genuine what would be a fair price? It is reasonable to to buy a vintage brietling for less than 300€?

Thanks

Interesting.

Doesn't look obviously wrong, but would like to see model and serial numbers on the caseback.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The auction description says the back cover has no marks or writings, hence I am assuming the cover is not the original one.

If there are no markings then you have to assume that the watch is franken - wrong caseback will mean wrong case 99% of the time.

I've learned over the years that anything described as 'oversized' in regards to a Breitling generally isn't a genuine Breitling. Very very few watches were produced by them that would be considered large and they usually are 34-36mm. There are a few early exceptions but not many. This watch has gold hands and gold batons on the dial which, to me, would mostly be found in a gold or gold plated watch not a stainless steel version. I think it's been recased.

Thanks for the valuable info. More in general, it reasonable to buy a simple Brietling vintage watch, similar to this one, for around 300€ (350 USD)?

They're usually available in the $250 - $450 range depending on condition.
