I just bought this off ebay for next to nothing, so I've no expectations on this.

The face didn't look very genuine to me, but I bought it just for a watch mechanism to look at, not expecting it to be genuine.

However, the finish on the parts looks surprisingly good.

It's about an inch square, so tiny...

Is there any chance that this really made by Breitling?

Thanks.

M.

You did indeed buy it for next to nothing.

Here's what I told another member by PM when he asked me earlier in the week:

"I've seen similar in pieces from early to mid 1930s so I think that it's fine. Not entirely convinced that the movement is quite so old however - I don't recall the Breitling wheel on pieces that old."

The "similar" that I was referring to was the very early style logo on the dial.

Thanks - So you think the parts are probably genuine even if they don't belong together?

Is there anything I could usefully do with my bargain buy? :)

I think so, but see what others think.

Unless you can find a 1930s case for it then not much you can do.

Both of the vintage pieces I had redone for my wife a few years ago have Breitling stamped into the watch movement next to the 17 jewels. One has the Breitling logo on the gear wheel and the other doesn't. Both are from the 1940's and this one from 1947.
