Hello dear board, Looking at a ref. 777 offered for sale and noticed the curious KCS import code on the movement. I am familiar with WOG and BOW, but cannot find reference to this code. Also, the "anti choc" printing on the dial strikes me as unusual. Can you tell me, is it a variety I have not seen before or a franken? Thank you! |

very interesting. seems to be a Venus 175, watch case looks ok, production date very early 1940s, most probably 1942. the KCS code is not listed by Ranfft, could not a refernce to it anywhere - but we have seen several import codes on Breitlings in the early 40s, neither WOG nor BOW could be on that watch, as Wakmann and Breitling USA were only established in 1947. what is most interesting about this one is a Breitling stamping that I have never seen before in this form: ![]() |

Don't recall ever coming across KCS before, I've got a couple of references at home that differ slightly from Ranfft so will check them. The movement stamping really is ineresting, and not something that one would expect a faker to do. With the 3 minute markings on the sub 42 would be the earliest that it could be if I remember correctly. Anti choc looks fine to me, just French for anti shock and the balance is shock protected. |
