Hi. After some research I post this more for feedback and your edification than anything else. I've looked at hundred's of old Breitling's online, and even looked through a jeweller's catalogue of Breitlings and there is no match. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sean_and_jackies_photos/ Sorry about the quality of the photos. I'll get better pics of the insides. What I know is that my father purchased this in the early 1950's, obviously after '53 by the "Geneve" on the face, but no later than 1956-7. He spent a lot of time in Cuba in the late 40's and early 50's, and I suspect he purchased it there, which, if so, makes it a pre-revolution Cuban Breitling fake. On back is 3307, with case-boite swiss in a circle and 91 in middle. It is heavy. Case is not gold. Band is replacement. The original band was steel hinged bracelet with 18 k gold tops. Face says 21 Jewels Automatic and indeed it is a self winder. Keeps absolutely perfect time. Sorry, I haven't taken the back off, I'll get a professional to tell me what's inside, and update you on the results. Has anyone seen anything like this? Even with my crash course, I have to say its not much of a fake, which in itself is interesting. Back in the day it must have looked more authentic, likely echoing recognizable styles. Only thing I could find similar is this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BREITLING-REF-1 ... 122wt_1189 which isn't authentic either! Anyway, maybe of little interests to purists, but let me know if anyone has seen anything like it. Thanks! |

Don't know why you would think it's a fake. The reference number and description is correct to what's in the Benno Richter book (there's a very close example bottom right of page 75). Once you get the back off and check out the serial number and movement you'll see it's probably genuine. Nice piece! |

Looks perfectly genuine to me, reference number matches as Paul says, and would expect a roughly '54 serial number inside. Very nice dress piece. |
