New to Breitling and collecting, would like to start with this Navitimer 806.

I would really appreciate your opinion if it is original, the seller appears to be a well established firm. Thanks for your time and comments.

well, the seller calls that dial "unique" - and it certainly is,
the AOPA wings are very strange, at first glance looked
like a Iraq-AOPA fabrication - there are surprisingly
many variants of the AOPA wings, but never saw
this.

I do not see a ref. no. on the caseback, there are no
movement shots, the hands are very aged, but the
discoloration is quite different on the two.

at that asking price you can - and should - get something
much, much better.

Thanks for your time.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have looked at this to closely, but the seller seems to have build a good reputation, and guarantees all items to be authentic, with a return policy, and a three year warranty.

I wouldn't pay the asking price, but thought I would make a much lower offer.

Thanks again.

I've seen that style AOPA wings on Wakmann's and Breitlings before and never have found a reasonable explanation for the design.

sorry, should have said "never seen on a Navitimer 806", know
this Wakmann, but the source of this one makes it even less
convincing to be authentic ....

I've seen too many of the Wakmann's and that pic was just the first one that came up on Google. Almost bought a Top Time from the same period with the same logo. The only thing that concerns me about the 806 above is the logo appears to be in the white fakers seem most likely to use. Then you would wonder why not just put the original logo back on? This might be a stencil that's available for dial restorers to use but just guessing.

Thanks to all of you for your input. Because of you I didn't purchase an expensive paperweight!

FYI-I emailed the seller and asked for a photo of the back of the case, and specifically a photo showing the serial number, pointing out that their site info guarantees that all watches are original.

Never heard back. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks again.

:superman: now back to the search!

So, gentlemen, what's the final word - fake or not? I've seen a few pics of such wings on the net, but there was no definitive consensus...

(I know, it's hard to tell based on the dial alone, without movement pics and serial no.)
