Fake.

Genuine Breitling would never have a double caseback, dial has been redone and Breitling on movement bridge and caseback is faked.

I think this is a fake
Breitling never used double casebacks and only started in Geneve late '51 early '52 so the dial in incorrect as well
website says its sold too ?

it says "sold" on the listing, hope not to you.
Poor fake, typical rebranded Chronographe Suisse, used to be a nice watch, now quite worthless

Keep an eye on eBay or chrono24, but ask here before committing - there are many more fakes than there are genuine ones.

So no way this one is original huh? Spoke to Seller and they are quite confident it is 100% original and true breitling saying two watch makers verified it. It says sold because I put a hold on it. Watch looks great just want something original!

Whatever they say, this is a cheap and nasty fake.
No correct, documented reference number
No period correct serial number
breitling NEVER used cheap, paperthin, low cost gold cases that needed an addidional metal caseback.

Absolutely no doubt at all

I have this same watch if you want to buy mine.....except mine doesn't say Breitling. It's says "Robot" etched on the movement and only Chronometre on the dial. Maybe you can find someone to fake the dial and "Breitling-ize" the movement.....save yourself a few dollars...and also know for sure your watch is made up.

to the OP:

do not let this demotivate you, vintage Breitlings are among the most beautiful watches ever produced and quite desirable, so fakes and frankenwatches are good business for the fraudsters; you have come to the right place to verify a watch you like - in most cases we will be able to give you the feedback you need to make sure you get a correct piece.

So patiently browse around, either on ebay or chrono24; Not from China, not from South America, hesitate when you see a seller from Florida, beware of Turkey and Italy, do not blindly trust anybody. Post pics and links, you should be able to find some nice pieces at fair prices, we will be glad to help.

Just out of interest, do you guys recognize the movement in that watch?

I have a very decent 1950s 14K Chronographe Suisse which IIRC has a Landeron 48 movement in it (which the pictured one in this thread is not). I guess they used various movements over the years.
