This guy posts this watch and expects someone to actually believe the story. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mega-rare-WWII-German-U-Boat-Captain-18k-Gold-Breitling-Chronograph-wristwatch-/150730992521?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2318446b89 A quick check on Wikipedia finds all the information necessary to put a fake together. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_submarine_U-505 I find it highly unlikely anyone would go to war in the 1940's with an 18k watch in the first place. I would imagine a soft 18k watch would get knocked around pretty good in a WW2 submarine. |

. . . do we think the dial has been over-painted? In other words, do you think this is an example of someone using a pretty good stencil over a beat dial? I tend to think so and I think it's a troubling trend. |
