Hi All, I am new to this forum and also new to the world of Breitlings! I usually collect Omegas but of late have been eyeing some Breitlings on eBay. I see a lot of vintage 17Js being advertised for sale but would like the experts on this forum to provide guidance on the authenticity. Am attaching some pictures for more details. Also, most of the 17Js on eBay are being sold by sellers from China. Any pointers would be much appreciated. I can provide more details from the eBay listing if needed. Thanks in anticipation! Welcome to the forum and the world of Breitling vintage watches, though the "entry door" you chose is the worst possible.+ ALL those 17 jewels 3-hand from China are nasty, ugly fakes, hope you did not buy one. |

Welcome to BreitlingSource and three easy pointers: 1) Never buy a piece from China 2) Never buy a piece from South America 3) Never buy a piece without asking here first Good luck with the hunt! |

Also, how are these guys being allowed to peddle fakes on eBay? Can one complain? Does it help? Thanks! |

Thanks! can one complain: yes does it help: no We are listing those fakes from time to time, hoping people will google the seller names (watches and descriptions are so similar it might be one guy mass producing those). Several of these pieces are sold every week, sometimes at shockingly high prices. If you search ebay for "vintage swiss Breitling 17" you find them easily, most from China, though I have seen offers from the UK, US and Germany: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?rt=nc&LH ... 86.c0.m283 We had some problems with a member using our vintage fake/franken listings to rip off the Frankenfakers, so I did not list any for some time, but this problem should be solved now, so I´ll get back to my "vintage laughs of the week" soon. |
