Post subject:  Case numbers and production years

Do any of you gentlemen (I take my precautions now :-) ) know how I could find the production year when I have the case number for models prior to 1944, since the Richter book only gives production years after 1943 ?

Also do you know if the case number should always be stamped on the same side of the caseback as the reference number (exterior side) as I often see chronographs with ref. outside and case number inside ?

Last, id it normal to see Breitling engraved in script in the inside case of 1940's models ?

Thanks for your help :)

There are no reliable records for serial numbers before 1944. It is entirely possible to have model number on the outside of the caseback and serial number on the inside - countless thread here showing exactly that.

A script Breitling inside the caseback may be correct, and may also be wrong - it's a common 'addition' to try and add value.
