Hi All.

I recently purchased this vintage 1940's Breitling Chrono.. I presumme everything is correct with the watch - going off the seller.

Reading some of the post on here - I want a more expert opinion...

Please tell me what you can :)

See if you can get your money back. It's a fake. The 'Breitling' has been added to the dial, wrong Landeron movement, wrong case markings.

Thanks for you reply.

I will be contacting the seller for a refund...

Can you please let me know what it should have?

Thanks.

Well for a start it shouldn't have the name of two makers on the dial!

Can't really say what this should have because it's not based on any real vintage Breitling.

Hmm, hope that's the original seller relisting it.

sound a little strange, as the link Paul hqs posted was on my vintagejunk watchlist for the last three days or so, so it was not recently relisted.

I contected the Seller 'Nick' who was very decent about it and offered me a full refund on it when it arrives back to him on Monday.

To be fair - he seemded surprised at the comments regarding the dial and markings.

He said he will be re-listing it and he's quite confident it will sell again.

In my defence - I do know that some watch manufacturers allowed retailers to put their names on the dial... Rolex for one - so I thought this maybe common for the period.

This is the first Breitling I've ever purchased, and my knowledge of them is very limited. Perhaps with hine-sight, I should of hung around here first before making a purchase...

There were a few retailers, like LIP, that had a special arrangement to sell Breitling's but not usually separate manufacturers. Next time just run whatever you're interested in past this forum and we will be glad to help you out.
