Post subject:  Real, not real? Uncovered an old 'Breitling'

Hey fellas,

First off, thanks for the help. I'm new around these parts and this is my first post.

Ironically, I was actually at the watch store this morning trying to see what my first luxury watch purchase should be, was sold pretty persuasively on a Breitling but left the jewelry store to ponder the question a little while before finally pulling the trigger.

As fate would have it, while moving some boxes around today, I found an old watch that belonged to someone in our family - not sure whom. I can't even date it - tried googling but met no success. I took it to a local watchsmith and he remarked that it seemed real to him, but he couldn't date it exactly either - his guess was 50 years old. I bought a new strap from him just in case it was the real deal, haha.

I'd like to see if this is a true antique or if it's a bunk purchased from my family's many trips to Asia. Don't have a camera attached to my phone but have one on my computer, so these pictures are a little low-tech. Let me know if you guys need clearer ones to identify.

In case the pictures are too blurry:

Though the writing is sort of fading, the front reads:

BREITLING
GENEVE

17 JEWELS
ANTIMAGNETIC
SHOCKPROTECTED

The back reads "Automatic / Waterproof / Incabloc / Lusina" in some sort of circular fashion, surrounding the lettering "Stainless Steel Back 240066"

Thanks all,

Sam

Yeah those are some tough pics... can't really tell, but from the looks of the first pic it doesn't look good... looks like a frankenwatch to me...

Your mentioning of "Lusina" doesn't help either... sorry but others will chime in...

welcome to the source... :lingsrock:

Garbage.

That dial layout with name and logo beneath centre and those caseback markings could never be real.

Thanks all, appreciate the no-BS responses.

Looks like I'll be headed to the store to either pick up a Breitling today, haha.

EDIT: I found a camera so took some higher quality photos for the curious:

You can clearly see that the B logo looks nothing like a real Breitling B and the caseback / serial number is completely inconsistent with Breitling.
