Funny, it takes a little more than that for me to consider someone to be "trusted".

I'm moving on to something much more modern. What do you think of this:

Once again, thanks for all of your help.

Mike

That's real.

:yeahthat but quite a radical move ... do not loose your love and patience for vintage Breitlings, worth it in the end.

Your are right, I am losing my confidence.

What do you think about this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950s-BREITLING-MOON-PHASE-TRIPLE-DATE-VALJOUX-90-/200655677690?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2eb802a8fa#ht_6473wt_698

I assume it is fake based on the Breitling stamp on the movement and the too good to be true face.

Thanks,

Mike

very nice piece, watch is also listed on ebay, together with a very nice 809, seller has very high/positive feedback.

I purchased a vintage watch from him one or two years ago. He is based in Switzerland.
Search for his ebay username on the web as he also has an online shop.

not sure what you mean by "make of this one" ? mid 60s TT 2000, dial is nice, crown clearly replacement. not too convinced w/ movement, seems a little early for the 7734 ?

Not sure that's a 7734 Fred. It's a 7734 bridge, but look at the reat of the movement - looks more 188 like, which is what I would expect in a 2000 Top Time. Having said that, the chrono module doesn't look typical for a 188 or a 7734 :huh

Thanks for the inputs. Do you mean the watch is a franken and it is best to keep looking?

Mike, it really depends what you want to have ?

If you are looking for perfection, this Top Time definitely is not. Remember the watches you are looking at are 40 to 60 years old; a watchmaker typically was asked to repair a "daily beater", not to preserve a holy grail for some future collector.

I assume this is what happened here, something broke & the watchmaker used any parts he could get to have it repaired. Would not judge it intentionally franken, it takes a "Roff the Prof" ( ) to see things like questionable chrono movement components, but us mere mortals see that 1965 Top Time 2000 should have an authentic, complete Venus 188 and this one does not.
