Came across this stopwatch the other day and was curious about the engravings...

It appears to be engraved with "Robot Watch G."?

Why would someone take the time to engrave and what does the engraving mean?

I doubt if the pocket timer ever started life as a Breitling as often Robot imports had blank dials; easy to rename. The only true Breitling's to have hand engraving inside would be by Wakmann as the Breitling import company.
