The Italians call their tour the "Giro D'Italia"

I believe "tour" as in "Tour de France" is more german / french (Fred , Phil please correct me of this is not right)

So why would these watches state "tour d italie" , unless they were not made for Italy ?

Or is the tour d italy not the same as the giro ?

I just dont know enough about cycling and we could certainly do with the official documentation :(

In cycling there are three 'Grand Tours' (English words, there may be 'official' terms in other languages (like Grand Prix in auto racing for example), I don't know). The Tour de France (French for the Tour of France) is a Grand Tour as is the Giro d'Italia (Italian for the Tour of Italy). The other is the Vuelta a España (Spanish for the Tour of Spain).

In terms of these watches, while I get the argument that they could have been made in batches, I have seen a number and handled some up close and I just don't see them as anything other than real Breitlings. Clearly from the fact that Fred has one he agrees. If they were made later then I want to know who does the work because it is incredible.
