Same serial number on this one but the index ring has been changed to a more correct one with no red on it.

well spotted, and the seller am guessing asked for $3300 negotiable for a reason though his advertising is completely false/misleading(he seems to have been on that site since 2007). It would have easily netted more than double if was real and that seller would surely have known it's value being around that long:)..guessing Bill bought it off him at an even lower price and is trying to now auction that frankenwatch to the highest bidder as a real deal grail. The box and strap too have disappeared. Is $3950 already, interesting:)

Shouldn't AOPA be written in the wings logo and have silvered or rusty hands instead of black ones? Also does the dial look relumed? The movement looks like a correct V72 though.

Interesting. I watched this auction and was so curious about those black hands. I have a 1955 V72 myself that has never been altered for sure so I was very curious and wondering why mine didn't look quite like that one ha :) However I would not mind fetching a price like that for mine.

Cool, do post pics of your watch here and if you plan on selling yours make sure you ask around here before you let it go so you get it's proper market value:), I bought mine a few months ago so I know..a proper V72 in good condition should fetch you more than 6k so don't let it go to the first person who makes you an offer.

Yes I would absolutely use this resource first. And I will post pics of the watch today or tomorrow when I have a chance. Thanks for your comment and advice. Much appreciated.

Here is my 1955 VJ 72. She's had a replacement crystal and replacement strap, but she's a pretty one :)
