Breitling AOPA “Transitional” 806 Navitimer, SN 977,xxx (1964 production) Price: $7000 shipped to U.S. addresses. Int’l shipping at buyer’s cost. Details Dial / Crystal: Excellent high gloss dial. Gilt AOPA logo. Tritium lume on hour plots are fully intact. Tritium lume in handset is fully intact. Original acrylic crystal. Bezel: Rare “SMEB” (Special Milled Edge Bezel) bezel only found on 1964 production 806 models. Movement: Venus 178 manual movement with “WOG” U.S. import stamp Case / Crown / Pushers: Very sharp, unpolished case. Some visible wear, light surface scratches on lugs. Lugs retain their factory edges. 40mm diameter (without crown). Breitling signed crown. Original pushers. Bracelet: Period correct JB Champion stainless steel bracelet installed by the original owner. Accessories: None Condition: An is extremely well preserved, all original 806 Navitimer. It would be difficult to find a better example of this ‘transitional” vintage. There are no tell-tale signs of the movement ever having been serviced, no watchmaker’s marks are present on the interior caseback. Chrono resets to 12:00. Watch winds and keeps good time but a movement service is recommended. Comments: This 1964 Breitling AOPA 806 Navitimer was acquired from the family of the original owner in 2017. Early 806 models that lacked the Breitling name on the dial were sold through the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. The original owner of this Navitimer was a private pilot based in the Midwest (U.S.). A returned timepiece will be scrutinized in detail to make sure no parts have been altered or damaged in any way. Buyer is responsible for the cost of postage and insurance of any returned item.
