Up for sale is this classic and original circa 1967 Breitling 806 Navitimer with beautiful and complex black gloss "Twin Jet" dial. This rare gold plated Navitimer with steel back features the seminal Venus 178 chronograph movement and is in overall Excellent vintage condition with a Near Mint dial. While service history is unknown, all functions are running well on this all-original beauty. It's very hard to find these gold-plated Navitimers in such outstanding condition much less with a dial this pristine -- this is a very nice piece for the advanced Breitling collector.

CASE & BACK: Classic oversized aviator's chronograph measures 41 x 48mm
not including crown. The heavily gold plated case does not appear to have ever been polished and has crisp bevels and no loss of plating. There are some light scratches but no harsh nicks Excellent vintage condition for a 45+ year-old watch. The outer part of the steel snap-on back has some scratches but shows its original milling. All original Breitling nomenclature, reference & serial numbers are crisp and legible -- Very Good original cosmetic condition. The inner caseback shows only light corrosion to the lip and has the correct internal Breitling markings as well as the duplicate 1.15 mil serial number, which dates to 1967 based on the best available information.
BEZEL: The heavy gold plated rotating bezel with big serrations is Excellent with just a few marks but no real loss of plating. The slide rule insert is quite bright and crisp. The bezel itself rotates in both directions as designed if probably a bit more freely than when new.
DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely Near Mint gloss black "Twin Jet" logo dial with gilt printing and only the most minor imperfections visible under a loupe, primarily some light surface dust that could easily be blown off. All original Tritium luminous "12" and bar hour markers are present and showing lovely patina and the complex gilt-printed slide rule calibrations are all intact. Silver-white engine turned subdials are bright. Simply put, this is an absolutely gorgeous and complicated dial as only Breitling is able to execute. Correct gold luminous-filled hour, minute and chrono sweep seconds are Excellent to Near Mint, as are the small black counter hands.
CROWNS & PUSHERS: Signed Breitling crown shows a lot of wear to the plating, Good original condition. However, it winds and pulls out to the time-setting position as it should. The two pusher caps show an odd little cutout on the bottom of each which I am unfamiliar with and can only assume is related to age. Taken as a trio, the crown and pushers all testify to this watch being a completely unmolested original example. Both chrono pushers work as they should with the start-stop top pusher just a little bit less than crisp.
CRYSTAL: Large low-dome acrylic crystal is Excellent+ with only some minor scratches and no deep marks.
MOVEMENT: Legendary Venus 178 chronograph movement is looking bright and working well with all correct Breitling nomenclature of the era, shock protection and the "WOG" US import code stamped on the balance bridge. While I don't know the service history of this great movement and it may need a service in future, it is keeping good time and all chronograph functions are working properly and returning to zero. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipment.
STRAP: This classic Navitimer comes on a very cool olive drab leather lined canvas Cordura strap with light wear in Excellent condition. This watch takes 22mm straps.
I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form due to its age and the dodgy water resistance of most vintage chronos in general.
