Post subject:  Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 46 2009 Full Set, WITHDRAWN

SUNDAY 15/12/13 NOW WITHDRAWN - SELLING TONIGHT ON EBAY

Gentlemen,

Up for grabs is my Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 46, the A17320.

It's the less common Bronze Dial/Bronze Bezel version, which I believe is now discontinued, and dates from June 2009.

Further specs and info can be found here: http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... e_126.html

As the name might suggest, it's a huge beast at 46mm (without crown). It's in terrific condition – I got this around 3 months ago, and it had only been worn on special occasions and was in overall great shape – however, the previous owner had fallen off his bike and put a significant dink in the bezel insert. So it was sent off to Breitling for a replacement insert. It arrived back on Friday morning. The Breitling Service seal is in place on the caseback. The Breitling receipt for the repair will be included.

It's a full set, triple-boxed with all papers and the original purchase receipt.

It's currently mounted on a Bronze Ocean Racer Strap with the excellent push-button deployant clasp with micro-adjustment, plus I've got a Black Diver Pro II that the original owner also used. Both rubbers are uncut (he was a big lad).

This Chronometer Certified model, which incorporates the Breitling 25 Jewel Calibre 17 movement (based on the ETA 2824-2) is extremely accurate. It's well within COSC Specs, as you would expect after coming back from Breitling Service – it has gained 3 seconds in the 2 days since I got it back. Consider it within +/-3 seconds per day for the purposes of the sale.

CONDITION REPORT:

Crystal: The Sapphire Crystal is in super condition – under a loupe I can see a couple of tiny hairline marks, but nothing visible in normal use.

Dial: It's a superb metallic Bronze, iridescent with a real starburst effect as it catches the light. The markers are applied steel batons, larger and triangular at 3 and 9, double batons at 12. There are luminous applied dots to the outer of each marker except at the quarters. A script font Breitling 'B' is in applied steel above centre. There's a Quickset Date Window at 3, white framed. A minute marker track runs around the outer of the dial, with the quarters marked off in Arabics. The chapter ring is mirror-polished steel which adds depth to the dial. All in immaculate condition, lume is good.

Hands: The Hour hand is a short broad 'arrowhead', while the Minute hand is a long straight 'sword' – both are steel, with a luminous fill. The Seconds hand is a counterbalanced steel 'needle'. All excellent, and the lume is very good, and lasts for a good spell.

Case: The case is a classic 'tonneau' (barrel) style, in mirror-polished steel. It's a seriously large watch, 46mm across without the Crown, and wears bigger (50mm with the Crown!). The lugs are set at quite an angle. Condition is very good – there are some 'micro-scratches', which are almost impossible to avoid on the highly-polished surface, but no nicks or dinks, and certainly nothing deep or nasty. I'm struggling to find anything else detrimental, perhaps an odd shiny edge or two. There are light strap-changing marks on the inside of the lugs, nothing serious.

Caseback: The caseback is a 15-sided screwback type. Markings are clear, including Model and Serial numbers. Again, there are light hairline scratches, but nothing nasty. The Breitling Service Centre seal is in place.

Bezel: There is a unidirectional steel bezel, which turns smoothly with 120 ratcheted 'clicks'. It has a nice and grippy bevelled edge, with rivets set at 5, 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55. The chimney (where the bezel meets the crystal) has one or two slightly shiny areas, nothing serious. As mentioned, the original bezel insert was damaged, so I've had Breitling fit a replacement for me – it's new, and perfect. The Breitling receipt is included (£126!).

Crown: Oversized 3 position screwdown ridged-edge steel crown, clear 'B' signed on domed top. Really nice condition, and works perfectly.

Movement/Running: This has just come back from Breitling, with the caseback sealed with their Service Seal, so I guess it's been regulated at the very least – it's certainly running within COSC specs. The date clicks over at midnight. See above for movement details.

Bracelet: The watch is supplied on a Bronze Ocean Racer Rubber strap - it's been used, but barely - it's in very nice condition, no cuts or nicks. It is full sized (i.e. not cut, the previous owner was gorilla-wristed). It's fitted with the superb push-button deployant clasp (new, raised logo style) with the micro-adjustment feature – like the case, this is in a mirror-polished finish, and has the usual proliferation of micro-scratches – but again, nothing deep or nasty. Another strap, a Black Diver Pro II, is also included. Again it's been lightly used, but in generally very good order – there's a slight crease where the deployant clasp was attached, but no nicks or cuts. It's also uncut, so good for any size wrist.

Box/Papers: Full set as follows: Outer Black/Yellow Box (the 'Propeller' version); Bakelite Black Box (minty, and no hinge issues!); Inner Leather Travel/Display Case with Cushion; Instruction Manual; Warranty Registration Booklet (Torneau, Las Vegas, dealer stamped, not dated; COSC Certificate; original purchase receipt (Torneau, dated 4 June 2009); Hang Tag; Breitling Receipt for bezel insert replacement (dated 4 Dec 2013). All in very good condition or better.

Measurements: Width (without Crown): 46mm. Thickness: 13.6mm. Lug-to-lug: 57.5mm. Lug Width 24mm. Weight 158 grams

This is a lovely example of the SOH 46. The Bronze Dial version appears to have been discontinued, which is a shame – it's a standout piece. I know that the previous owner only wore this one sparingly, which is reflected in the condition. I've been very thorough in my description, and if anything I tend to be over-critical. If you've read this far, you'll know it's not mint, but it's in very nice order.

The current list price for the SOH 46 on an Ocean Racer/Deployant combination is £2930.

On the 'bay, comparable models seem to be priced at up to £2500. Of those actually sold, a comparable model to mine (but without papers) went for £1900.

I'm going to put this up for a very reasonable £1699. The price includes Next Day Special Delivery for UK Forum members - It's a heavy package (@1.6kg) and will cost me about £14.00 to post. If you're overseas, you will need to add £20 for Europe, £30 for anywhere else, to cover Tracked and Insured shipping.

I reckon that's an extremely good deal for someone out there, so the price is firm. Trades/PX offers welcome, but I'm trying to rationalise the collection a bit, so ideally would prefer a straight sale. The watch is being advertised elsewhere, so don't hang about if you want it!

I've loads of Feedback on here, I'm a 'Top Rated' e-bay seller (2600+ deals, 100%, username 'goonermike'), and I've got plenty of Feedback on TZ-UK (username BigBird), so there are no worries there.

I'd prefer BT. PayPal if absolutely necessary, or for overseas, but I cannot accept PayPal Gifts (my account just won't accept them, and I get charged even on gifts). So if you want to use PayPal, it'll be via the 'official' route, and you'll need to add 3% to contribute towards Fees.

If I've missed anything, you'd like more info or pics, please feel free to PM me.

Cheers!

Mike

And finally, the full package (see description above for full contents), plus a few extra headshots where I've managed to catch the Anti-reflective coating treatment on the Sapphire crystal.
