This is a phenomenal example (excellent over-all condition) of the much sought-after vintage Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute chronograph Ref. 809 in stainless steel on a Breitling leather strap.

The Breitling-prepared Venus 178 jewel manual-wind movement has just received a full service by the lead watchmaker at my Rolex AD, and it is operating perfectly.

Image

Based on the colour and condition of the luminous material, my matchmaker believes the dial is original and unmolested, and I agree with him . . .

Signed six times: case, dial, crown, movement, strap, buckle.

The serial number, 1305xxx, dates the watch to approximately 1969, so this Cosmonaute is a product of the era of the space race.

Fitted with a Breitling-signed strap & buckle, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the last of the 24 hour dial Breitlings made before the rights to manufacture the watch were sold in the early 70s.

$3999 plus actual carriage.

Late 1978 actually, and the rights to produce Breitling Cosmonautes were not sold, just the ability to produce a watch that looked like a Cosmonaute with a different name.
