Rolex is most famous for its purpose built tool watches. The Explorer II was designed with speleologists (cave explorers) in mind who might lose their notion of day and night. The Explorer II provides a red 24 hour hand and 24 hour bezel, so that in an absolute absence of light, the explorers can stay on their sleeping and waking schedule.

The dial is black with Suprluminova hour markers and hands, date at 3 o'clock and that great looking red 24 hour hand with the luminous arrow head.
The stainless steel Y serial case is 40mm in diameter by 12.5mm thick. The sapphire crystal is in pristine condition. The screw down crown operates as it should and the bezel is engraved in the 24 hour scale. The Explorer keeps great time on my wrist although I haven’t officially timed it. I wear it during the day and put it on the winder at night.
The movement is the automatic Rolex Caliber 3185 with 31 Jewels and is a C.O.S.C. certified Chronometer. The bracelet has the Rolex Oyster flip lock with 12 links and 801 end pieces.
The watch is in really nice condition with some surface scratching that could be easily removed if the new owner was compelled to do so. The Rolex will be delivered with the Rolex inner and outer box, Chronometer tag, hang tag, Rolex polishing cloth, Rolex service box, Rolex oyster bracelet, a nice black leather strap with white stitch and 3 Rolex booklets.
