REDUCTION - NOW £1899 - Bargain!
NOW WITHDRAWN, off to the 'Bay..Gentlemen,
Up for grabs is my terrific Breitling Super Avenger, the A13370. The SA was produced from 2004 to 2013. Briefly, the watch I have is a full set from 2008, and in super condition, both mechanically and cosmetically - have a read, and check out the pictures.
For those unfamiliar with the SA, the first thing that strikes you is the sheer size. The SA is a real beast at 48.4mm (54.2mm including Crown!) and it's not shy on the wrist as it's 18.4mm deep too. As you'd imagine, it's not light either - 247 grams on the bracelet, or more than half a pound of engineered steel on your wrist. I think I'm right in saying that it remains the biggest watch that Breitling have ever produced - the new Super Avenger II is a touch smaller at 48mm, and it's more than 2mm larger than the Chronoliner, the SOH 46 or the M2000.
Apart from the brushed bezel, it's all highly-polished steel, so it's not the most subtle watch either - Breitling's reputation for big and bold watches is pretty much epitomized by the Super Avenger!
The SA is a Chronometer Certified model, which incorporates the Breitling 25 Jewel Calibre 13 movement (based on the ETA 7750 Valjoux). The self-winding movement features 30 Minute and 12 Hour totalizers, a subdial main time Seconds register, with a Central Chronograph seconds hand. It has a 42 hour rated power reserve.
I've recently had my watchmaker (Steve, Ryte Time) inspect the movement, and regulate it for me. It's running within COSC Specs (consider it within +/-5 seconds per day for the purposes of the sale).
Some Specs and further info can be found here:
http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_78.htmlCONDITION REPORT:
Crystal: The slightly domed Sapphire Crystal is in perfect condition, no marks of any kind. The Anti-Reflective coating is mint too.
Dial: It's a beauty! It's a deep blue, with recessed steel-framed Sub-registers in white with a concentric circle 'guilloche' finish. Quickset Date Window at 3, steel-framed. Applied Arabic numerals, in high-polish steel. Small lumed circular markers to outer of each numeral. Minute marker track to outer of dial, with a 0-100 Scale on the raised outer Chapter ring. All in immaculate condition, lume is excellent.
Hands: Hour and Minute hands are steel 'Pencils', with a luminous fill. The central Chronograph hand is a steel needle, with a lume-filled d red box and red-dipped tip, and a long counterbalance. All excellent, and again, the lume glows nicely, and lasts for a good spell.
SubDial Registers: Main Time Seconds recorder at 9, 30 minute totalisator at 12, 12 hour totalisator at 6. Hands on Chrono SubDials are steel 'pencils' to match the main hands. All function perfectly, and 'flyback' correctly.
Case: The case is the classic diver-style, in highly-polished steel. As mentioned, it's a huge chunk of steel. Condition is excellent - there are some unavoidable 'hairlines' and minor swirls as you're always going to get on a mirror-polish finish, but no dinks or other nastiness. Edges remain crisp and well defined, no nicks, perhaps the odd 'shiny' mark. I'm struggling to find anything else detrimental. I've not removed the bracelet since I got this, but from what I can see there appears little sign of strap-changing marks.
Caseback: The caseback is a 15-sided screwback type. All markings are clear, including Model and Serial numbers. There are light hairlines as you'd expect from general wear, but nothing obvious, and no scratches or dinks - see photos.
Bezel: There is a unidirectional steel bezel, which turns smoothly with 120 nicely ratcheted 'clicks'. It's in a brushed finish to the upper surface, highly polished to the sides. It has a riveted outer, traditional diver engraved markings, with raised riders at the quarters. The chimney (where the bezel meets the crystal) has one or two light scuff marks, nothing deep, just shiny (and protecting the crystal, so doing its job). Lumed 'pip' at 12. Signed in Script 'B' on bezel edge at 58. The brushed upper surface seems pretty much mark-free, I can see one or two very light swirls and hairlines on the side of the high-polish bezel side, but they really are minor, the sort you're going to get almost as soon as the watch is worn.
Crown/Pushers: Original 3-position screwdown-to-lock steel crown, with a 'tyre-tread' ridged edge, clearly 'B' signed on the top. Two pushers, with the cross-hatched tyre-tread design on the top. Really nice condition, and all work perfectly.
Movement/Running: I've had my watchmaker (Steve, Ryte Time) inspect this for me, and he's regulated the movement. It's running well within COSC specs - consider it within +/- 5 seconds for the purposes of the sale. The Breitling-signed Calibre 13 Automatic movement is in excellent order, and running accurately. All functions work perfectly (date completes turnover at midnight, chrono resets to zero etc.). Please note that the watch has not been pressure tested recently - the Super Avenger is rated at up to 300M, but I would advise a full WR test before immersion in water.
Bracelet/Strap: The watch was issued in late 2008, and if I've got my dates right, if issued on a steel bracelet it would have been the Professional II. However, this watch is mounted on the high-polish Professional I bracelet, which was manufactured in 2003 according to the date code. I imagine that the previous owner sourced this earlier bracelet separately, maybe upgrading from a strap. The end links are the correct 891A version (it's a 24mm lug fitting). More importantly, condition is excellent - again, it's highly polished, so there will be some inevitable hairlines, but no major nicks, dinks or other nastiness. It's nice and 'tight'. I think it's 2 links down from full size (it has 6 removable links, new I think it should be

, but is still good for all but the largest wrists - I'm a gorilla sized 8.3" and this is wearable, though a fraction tight on me. Pro I links are easy to source if needed.
Clasp/Diver's Extension: The clasp is excellent, again some negligible 'desk-diver' swirls but nothing to worry about, and the logo and wording are very good. The clasp works perfectly, as does the Diver's extension.
Box/Papers: Full set as follows: Outer White Cardboard; Black/Yellow 'Propeller' Main Outer; Bakelite Black Presentation Box; Leather Presentation Case with display cushion; Yellow Document wallet; Instruction Manual; Original Warranty Booklet (dated 20/11/2008, and Dealer stamped); The outer white box is tatty but intact, the yellow base of the 'Propeller' box has taped corners, and the leather travel case and cushion both have some frayed edges - everything else is like new, including the Bakelite box which is in super nick, all lettering present and hinges intact!
Other: This is a lovely example of the Super Avenger. I know that the previous owner only wore it sparingly, which is reflected in the condition - the watch is coming up to 7 years old, but even if I say so myself, the condition on this one is remarkably good. I've been very thorough in my description, and if anything I tend to be over-critical. If you've read this far, you'll know it's not mint, but I'd be surprised if you could find a similarly aged model in as nice order as this.
On the 'bay, the cheapest comparable watch sold for £2250 (without papers, and not in as nice condition), while some have sold recently for well over £2500.
I'll put this up at an extremely reasonable £1999. The price includes Next Day Special Delivery for UK buyers - it's a heavy package (@1.7kg). If you're overseas, you will need to contact me for exact Shipping costs based on destination. I'd imagine it would be around £20 for Western Europe, up to a maximum £30 extra for Asia/Australia.
I reckon that's an extremely good deal for someone out there, so the price is firm. I'm not really looking for Trades/PX offers at the moment, though other Breitlings or Omega Divers/Moonwatches are my weak point...
I've loads of Feedback on here, I'm a 'Top Rated' e-bay seller (3400+ deals, 100%, username 'goonermike'), and I've got plenty of Feedback on TZ-UK (username BigBird), so there are no worries there.
I'd prefer payment by BT. PayPal if absolutely necessary, or for overseas, but I cannot accept PayPal Gifts (my account just won't accept them, and I get charged even on gifts). So if you want to use PayPal, it'll be via the 'official' route, and you'll need to add 3% to contribute towards Fees.
If I've missed anything, you'd like more info or pics, please feel free to PM me.
Cheers!
Mike
Photos (lots, spread over several posts) - please forgive the reflections, the mirror-polished steel finish catches everything! Starting with some head shots:
