I decided that making a strap could be good fun, and possibly lend a new angle to my shop.

Outlay so far for tools and resources came in about £60 or there abouts. I am about 2 days in so far, and things are coming together pretty well.

I decided that I wanted a sterling silver buckle and keepers (I work in silver a lot), and they are looking good, and I may sell those separately as well as they are hard to come by it seems.

As for making the strap, great learning curve working out how to work with leather, very enjoyable.

Not much to show about that at the moment as it is a long process waiting for the right types of glue to dry, I reckon another few days of work and the first one may be done

Actually working on a redraft, had a learning curve with "leather grain" on the horween leather

Basically I was not 100% happy, flagged the things I would change, and am working on the MK2 now

Much faster this time around though

I am really happy with the buckle, I have a belief with silver that it should be aged, and then gently brought back to silver through wear or emulation of wear

Currently using it on the mark one strap whilst creating the public version

Nice work so far, I love 'antique' finished straps. Especially in that rich brown colour. I look forward to seeing the black and white.

Made a few by now, trying different leathers, and different combinations out

just finished a plain black, veg tan leather, thick, padded, with very minimal stitching (a few stitches near buckle to secure the keeper) which i am am going to try for a while to see how it bears up with use.

It certainly feels quality and heavy to compliment the watch, as does the sterling silver buckle, which i love.

the buckle was the first, I am making a highly polished silver one now to contrast the aged antique one i currently have. (the buckles are easy, working with leather has been a whole new brilliant learning curve for me)
