Picked up the Breitling Band for my SuperOcean from the Vegas Boutique in May and it's already getting worn out in only a couple of months. Anyone having similar issues or should I just expect this from regular use. Seems a bit worn down for a couple hundred dollar band. Any suggestions on anything I can use on it to protect it ??? Thanks

Never seen that before. Deployant will put less stress on the strap than tang, but that seems like a lot of damage for 3 months - maybe a manufacturing problem?? If you hadn't bought it in a boutique I would have said fake, might be wroth taking it back if you have the receipt and see what they say - there's no warranty on straps, but that's not right.

Personally I avoid using the Breitling tang and buckle strap as I've often found the buckle to be a little sharp on the leading edge. I've seen a couple of Breitlings in shops where the strap looks a little worn just from people trying the watch on a few times.... although I've never anything as bad as that in such a short space of time.

I've always gone for the deployant version myself and I've never had an issue. In my experience the quality of Breitling straps is very high indeed ; the issue is often more to do with the buckle.

(Edit - Roff beat me to it)

Thanks guys. I purchased the watch with the Deployment and also and like it better but just liked to change it up a little. I guess based on the Quality of this one I will be using the deployment a lot more. I have the receipt but the plane ride to vegas is more expensive than the strap. Not to mention the casinos!

You maybe wear your straps tight?

Can only agree with Roff and Driver, that amount of wear is not right for that amount of time (nor indeed a good deal longer). I'd go back to the AD for sure.

Wow, that doesn't look good. Is that the rubber material that looks a little like leather?

The new style buckles are way too sharp. This isn't the first strap I've seen ruined as a result.

I had less wear on my leather tang over 2 years with than that... Interesting.

You sure you aren't chewing on it?

Some of my straps are the deployant type and some are tang buckle.
Unfortunately I find the Breitling deployant a bit uncomfortable.
Tang buckles do punish the strap a lot more than the deployant but I have not seen anything as bad as what I see in your pictures before. Certainly not after 3 months!
I have recently switched to using tang style straps with plain butterfly aftermarket buckles.
I find them a lot more comfortable and very friendly on the straps.
No Breitling logo on the butterfly buckle. So what? Don't care, works for me ;-)

PH of your sweat looks to be way low, have a little caustic and see what happens. I would also take it back as suggested and if the next trap does the same thing it really might be something that it's being exposed to. Good leather can take a beating, I'm sure my couch has been through a bit more than your strap :D

Yes, I am chewing on it and I wear my watches so tight that they cut off the circulation in my fingers !

I emailed Donald at the Vegas Boutique to see if he has run into this problem yet with these style bands and if there is anything he can do for me. For $232.42 for a band I figured It would hold up a little better than one summer. Can't imagine what it will look like in a year.
