Just got my new Oribita winder in the mail. This is the In Safe 6 Rotorwind unit as shown here http://orbita.com/in-safe-6/

Cost $3000 and purchased from authorized Orbita dealer.

I know Orbita is known for quality but wow this one is horrible. The door looks nothing like the picture with screws popping out, poor quality hinge, patio door weatherstripping and worst of all when lock is open it hits my watch!

I will be returning this next week. If this is the quality of a $3k winder from Orbita, I have to look at a different brand. I am open to recommendations for a quality winder.

First picture is what was advertised, rest are what I got:

You must really love those yellow gold watches on the right side to have 3 of them :)

All kidding aside this is disheartening to say the least when spending 3000+ on a "quality winder"
I thought they were supposed to have pretty legit products, but hearing from someone owning it first hand this doesn't sound like the case at all.
Hopefully you will get your money back, shouldn't be any question IMO.

Wow. Looking for another in-safe myself, and Orbita is off the list as of this moment. I know they used to offer great quality products, but the detailed pics of the sub par construction/hinges/screws, etc. lead me to conclude they have gone through a poor QA. Sad to see a once quality company going to the 'cheap'.

Was it made in China? If so, I can just buy any cheap Chinese made winders for a fraction of the costs and be happy about it.
But how about the rotating device. Was that ok?

Wow, I would be penning a strongly worded letter to go with that return..

Surely a fake? Can't imagine any other explanation.

I have a Sparta Rotorwind single unit I keep on my desk. No issues and have been mostly happy with it so far. It's not the best winder for everything though...it won't keep my Transocean or my Zentih or a couple other pieces which require a high number of turns per day fully wound. So, it's great for kind of standard ETA or Valjoux based movements, but newer in house or higher power reserve watches its not a great choice. I wouldn't use it as a safe unit.
I bought the single unit just to try it out before investing in a larger unit. I was a Wolf user and will probably buy another stackable unit for my new additions. The newer Wolf units work great and are more programmable than other units. I just think the looks are kind of meh.

I have a number of Orbitas, and have handled many more and have never seen anything remotely like that.

Shocking! I am almost tempted to go into the watch winding business myself. Rapport was a similar let down for me too.

I was interested in this because it was perfect for the safe without having to run a wire in it. Claims 5 years on battery.

The rotating part is not that bad, it say Made in USA on the back and works fine. Its just the door part that is horrible. Maybe it was added later on by the vendor?

Now I have to find another one for the safe. With my current impression I would pay no more than $600 for it.

What are thoughts on this? http://orbita.com/avanti-3/ Its the same price, but not sure I want go through the hassle again if quality really is an issue with the company.

where did you get it?

i have had both orbita and wolf. i think wolf is the best bang for the buck imo. especially if you shop around and can do good on ebay with a make an offer bid. i saved a ton of $$ on mine. build quality looks better than yours by far and its priced way cheaper. look at the viceroy 2.7 models...

Well, I'll just say that if you're spending $3k for a winder set, you should be happy.

The one you have isn't the same as the first picture you posted. Even the lock is different.

With those right side watches, why not spring for an Avanti series from Orbita?
