Hi I bought a jewelry screwdriver set that comes with 1.2mm 1.4mm and 1.6mm to add a link to my montbrillant. However the ridge in the screw doesn't seem to be deep enough to get enough torque.

Do I just have the wrong screwdriver? Are there any local brick and mortar stores that'd carry something that'd do the trick or am I just better of getting it resized at the store? Thanks.

The 1.6 should work fine. 1.8 is ideal but harder to get in see for some reason. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of downward pressure and at the same time using a technique where you torque and ease off a few times until you get some initial movement.

Width aside, is there a certain blade thinness needed? I know most use bergeon, but I'm using something similar to this:

Could the blade on a 1.6mm width screwdriver still be too thick?

If it's not well made (to the correct tolerances) then yes.
