I caught a recent bug for vintage pocket and automobile watches. It was fascinating to learn and discover different types of regulators, movements, etc and holding a piece of history made 70-80 even 100 years back, and still beating beautifully was a thrill. But I also wanted to integrate these watches into my everyday life, and didn't want to collect them and keep them in a drawer. I could either wear a pocketwatch (impractical) or figure out a way to display them at work and enjoy them even more. I approached an Etsy Shop owner - Larry of Hobby Wood Works ( http://etsy.me/10FcmhM ) with a custom to build something for me. After 3 weeks of emails and ideating, I finally had this land on my desk. What do you guys think? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think pocket watches are a very rewarding hobby - they don't cost too much ( a few hundred versus a few thousand for the Breitlings and Panerais) have nice historical value, beautiful movements that still work - what's not to like? |

Nice box! I made a cabinet out of walnut with a sliding perspex front that is on the wall displaying some of mine, but only use the perspex stands for them. I've shared one of my more unusual pocket watches with the forum before - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9789 |
