The Wolf watch winder glass faces outward (vertically) not upwards. This is likely why it isn't working - it isn't moving the rotor/winding the watch.

I can honestly say this was not one of the possibilities I foresaw. :)

That's exactly the issue - the watch has to be held vertically.
