Can someone let me know if this is true? I’m interested in picking up a Breitling with this movement (ETA 2892 A2, in particular) and want to know what I’m getting into if there’s no service history.

This is the Breitling B19 movement, if that helps.

Breitling will service them for years/decades to come.
