My SOH 42 ran out of power sometime yesterday (forgot to turn on the watch winder), so I wasn't sure if the time stopped at 11:00AM or PM.
I read that you're not suppose to adjust the date between 8PM and 3AM, so I waited until the watch passed the 12:00 mark to determine if it was noon or midnight. Expecting the date to either slowly change as it approaches 12 or not do anything, I was surprised to see the date change at 11:55.

Is this normal for a B17 movement? I mean, shouldn't the date change at 12 and not a second sooner?

No it's not a quartz watch. Perfectly normal.

The hands aren't set on it right then. Who ever serviced last didn't adjust the hands to change at midnight. Some repairmen think most people are asleep or not wearing their watch at midnight to notice it not changing right at 12.
