OK I sent Gunter an email yesterday, and asked for his response to the dial.

Apparently, there was some sort of misunderstanding, probably due to the language barrier. he has stated that the watch does have the recessed "sandwich-type" numerals aspect, which create the additional dimension to the watch along side the recessed subdials, but the watch did not have the cut out numerals, which create a true sandwich dial.

Personally I think this is a happy mistake, and the watch looks amazingly well made and a substantial upgrade to the standard chrono, that said if you feel otherwise let me know, and we can work out a conclusion that would make you happy. All the LE watches are now sold out, and a few people at the WUS and German forum are foaming at the mouth for one, I have already received 10 purchase requests, so there is no shortage of people who would be willing to pay for your slot.

I concour on the "happy mistake" the dial just looks absolutely amazing!

I think a real sandwich dial with cut out numerals and subdials wouldn't have worked this well with the "small" chrono watch!

I won't return mine... it already merged with my wrist!

Thanks for the update Altair.

At least from the pictures, dial looks just fine to me - better than the standard Nav-B.
Only issue I will have is the size and fit on my wrist, specifically thickness. Won't know until I try it on.

As the lone dissenter of the sandwich dial, I definitely think the watch looks totally awesome! WOW! That is the pilot's watch to end all pilot's watches. I looooove the deep black reflective dial and of course the recessed subdials as was planned. My only regret is that I didn't get more than 1. ;)

I can't wait to get mine!!!!

:woohoo:
