Well I have been in contact with Gunther for a week now and it seems they have not received all the parts yet. The sandwich dial turned out to be more difficult to produce than initially expected since it is a chrono (and I have been adamant about quality) and the domed sapphire crystals are still not in.

Gunther now is not sure when the watch will be completed, but it might be another month or more according to his expectations, I have told him that I know you guys would not be pleased with this and I am leaving the choice up to you guys. We can either wait or cancel this LE and get our refunds.

Lets see where people stand on this.

Well, I could go either way on this. What worries me though is how serious the problems are. If we wait another month and then find out the sandwich (and other issues) can't happen, then our original specifications are compromised and it won't be any different than his standard product.

If you want a yes or no now I would vote no - get refund. But as I said, it wouldn't kill me to wait it out either.

Altair, after talking to Gunther - what was his confidence level that things would still work out?
Thanks for the update!

Good question Kodiak, Gunther is sure he can make the watches to out specs but he needs time as this is unexplored territory and I asked for an extra level of quality checking. Two watches from our previous LE had problems, one of them severe, and I told him that we do not want that happening again, hence the delays.

We still have the option of waiting it out then canceling, or just get our refunds now.

It would have to be a group decision, we either all wait or we all cancel. This group discussion will decide which course of action we take.

I don't have any other irons in the fire right now, so I would prefer to sit tight for now and see how things progress, where if we get to a point in several weeks where it looks like we either have to compromise on the design or have yet another long wait ahead of us we can revisit this.

Sorry Altair but I am not prepaired to wait at least another Month and even then not know if the watch will be ready. We were told on April 9th that they would be ready in 1- 2 weeks, we are now being told at least another Month.

PM me Gunters details and I will speak with him direct.

Thanks for clarification - as long as we can still cancel after a month (or reasonable time) if the original specifiations can't be met, then I would be willing to wait but I do not want to "settle" for a lesser design. Change my vote from immediate cancel to wait.

I'm 50/50 to be honest and am very interested in which way the majority vote. I'm still excited about this watch and can certainly wait but at the same time I'm not thrilled with the personal quality of my first LE (nothing wrong with the design or look) and if we do decide to vote against then the funds can be put to good use elsewhere.

Clearly garnering splinters from all this fence sitting but can honestly go either way.

I do however hold the right to change my vote depending on the majority

It seems a reasonable middle ground to give them some time, be it a month or whatever most agee on, to see if these issues can be resolved.

I think Gunther should take his time and do it right.

I am also OK waiting another month, but I would feel bad if taffytoon or anyone else who wants out cannot get his money back if the rest of us want to remain in. I think whoever wants their money back should get it back since the timeline is not as advertised.

A month is OK for me, so long as it does not go on for too long.

Hmmmmm....

It's a tricky one.

My interpretation of the above is that it will be at least a month or so before Gunther knows whether or not it's actually going to be possible to make the watch with the current spec. Altair says he's not sure and it could be a "month or more".

That being the case, we certainly won't be seeing it before June. A month isn't the end of the world if we knew we'd be getting the watches around then, but we might find it gets to the end of May and we then get told it's not even possible or that there are more delays!?!? Are people patient enough to wait until June, July etc? What's the cut-off point?

I'm totally on the fence here. Really want this watch but (taking things to the extreme) I not sure I want to wait another 3 or 4 months for it. There are lots of other watches I want too that this money could go towards!

I think I'd like some slightly more definite clarification from Gunther as to what he thinks about the whole thing, both in terms of time-scales and feasibility. Has he still got total confidence in the project or is he starting to have some doubts ??

Cheers!

Dave.
