First off a quick update to the people who purchased the first LE, I have not forgotten about the straps, paperwork and box but it is on the way, just waiting on Gunter to confirm my requests before I go public. Stay tuned...

For the prospective buyers of the second LE: I went ahead and paied the initial fees on behalf of the group (substantial!) and I trust you will go ahead and make the payment when the time comes.

Right now here is a little treat for yoru eyes, the final production design has been aproved and we should be getting these watches in 1-2 months time. Here are the pics, notice teh detail and lsightely different sheen to the chrono subdials

That looks awesome!

I, too, would like to know what the plan for the caseback is. It seems silly to have it be an X-1 with the "MARK II" on the front. The consensus seems to be that any of the other possibilities we discussed would be fine.

And one little thing I just can't help mentioning, but you can tell me to shut up if you want. (I don't mean to be the niggering nabob of negativism here...this watch is fantastic). Even though the words "MARK II" on the dial are no wider than the "Steinhart" or "Edition Limitee" or the day/date windows, they look wider. I think the font should be smaller than the day/date font, because the day and date are what you want to pick out most easily when you glance at the dial. Right now, the "MARK II" pretty much dominates everything. Or maybe if it were the same font and size as the "Steinhart" above? (This avoids the problem if the B01, which has a different font for everything on the dial and bezel...overload).

Just my 0.02 euros worth.

:yeahthat

Might just be the mockup but I also think the Mark II as shown above just looks a wee bit too dominant/big...

I'm sure whatever happens Gunter won't put out the watch unless he's happy with the look of it, so I'm now counting the days until it arrives safe in the knowledge it's going to be fantastic!!

:D

I have been away for a couple of days, but seems I have an email from Steinhart the 26th saying that they're shipping the additional things for LE1 (with DHL). However, the tracking id provided was not valid.

I don't know if they sent all out or just mine, as I have had some additional emails going to them. All in all the situation is a little bit weird as I don't know what to expect in the package. I know that sounds just confusing, so here's the story:

You might remember that my watch case had an irregularity between the bottom lugs. I emailed Steinhart and asked what they thought could have caused it. I got a reply saying I could ship the watch back and they would ship it to Switzerland, have it fixed, shipped back to Germany and then back to Japan. I thought it would be a lot of additional shipping/insurance/tax costs for both of us so I offered to have it brushed out here by a watchmaker and that they could send an additional strap of their choice instead - a strap that would go with the watch and still be different from the first provided strap and the second yet to be sent.

So far, so good. Then, it becomes a little bit confusing. I got an email from another person at Steinhart suggesting they would cover the watchmaker costs instead. I replied asking if they would like to do that instead of the agreed strap - and then we were back on an additional strap. It seemed they didn't want to decide a model so instead I sent them two suggestions, asking them to pick the one which was most different from the second (still un-sent) strap. A new mail asking for my preference and I replied with listing the two suggestions as #1 and #2. Now, I have the email saying they've sent the two straps (with one buckle to share as opposed to one per strap). I have no idea if the second of those straps would replace the original deal's second strap or if the warranty papers are included in the shipment. It'll be interesting to find out when the package arrives though! :)

Wow, that's certainly a bit of confusion there, Aleister!

Just to confirm I've heard nothing myself about the papers being sent. To be honest the only reason I could really do with knowing when they're due is because I've already sold my BSLE to another member here, but he's very kindly agreed to allow me to delay sending it until the papers arrive so I can send the whole lot together. (And before anyone asks, I sold it because I bought the Steinhart LSE that I totally fell in love with, and I've also just picked up a Steinhart LGE as well, so 3 manual winds in my collection would've been pushing it for me).

From what I understand, Steinhart are extremely busy with orders that were placed while they were on their Xmas break. Hopefully we will hear soon.

Not to pour gas on the fire, but the delay in completion of LE #1 is making me a bit skittish about LE#2. I hope our fearless LE leader can offer some advice.

Agreed. I was going to order the LEII but i have not received any word on the papers, box or strap for the LEI. I think I will hold off and save for a new Breitling.
