Hi all....

I'm on month 3 of my Breitling ownership and I must say I love my watch (10 y/o Starliner Diamante)...but I have a question. At the beginning of the month, my watch's date didn't account for the 30 days in April, so yesterday it stated that the date was the 3 (May) when it was actually the 2nd.

I tried to monkey with the hour change (crown in position 3) and it didn't seem to work. And, this morning, I impulsively changed the date. But I shouldn't have..I was distracted and didn't notice that the date wheel was now correct (3rd). Now my watch thinks it's the 4th! Duh :guns:

So, the question is...what is the best way to move the date backwards without screwing up the movement? I didn't want to move it forward 29 days for fear it would mess up something on the internals. Sorry, sure this is a rookie question, figured it was better safe than sorry.

Thanks so much....

Dates don't go backwards, they go forwards. Very few mechanical watches adjust for months with less than 31 days but I don't understand how you managed to get a day ahead in the first place. On May 1st if you hadn't adjusted the watch would have indicated 31 and all you needed to do was go forwards one day. Now you are ahead you need to go all the way through the month, making sure you don't use the quickset date between 8pm and 3am. To avoid being 12 hours out recommendation is to go to the day before and then advance time to be correct.

Thank you Roff...I assumed the 'forward' part based upon other watches, but wanted to make sure. I did as you recommended and it worked like a charm. Thank you :)
