Post subject:  ladie's calistoga

my breitling calistoga was purchased in the mid 90's. i've never had a problem with it until now. i took it to a jeweler to have the battery changed, and was told there is a problem with the tube threads inside the crown.

one jeweler told me it would be a $850 repair without sending it to breitling...i've since had it sent to breitling.

does anyone have any idea how much this is likely to cost, and...more importantly...is it worth repairing?

thanks so much!

Do you mean Callistino? - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_14.html

It's going to need at least a full service, and by the sounds of it there hasn't been much servicing done in its life so that may add to the cost. A crown tube isn't going to be ridiculously expensive on that model but wouldn't be surprised if Breitling's total was in the same price range if there is no service history. Is it worth it, well only you can answer that. The watch will come back looking like new and may well last another 20+ years. On the other hand if you are planning to sell it then you won't get your money back in terms of increased value.
