Per the models page - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_14.html, 3 -4 years. Are you sure that it's the battery and not a need for service?

Think its battery Roff the second hand keeps jumping 5 seconds I thought that was the end of battery life sign

But you have to ask.....

Is there a problem with the movement that is causing the battery not to last as long as it should?

Now that is a question but she hardly wears it out here in the sticks so will get her to check with the AD in Leeds when she is over there.I didn't think much could go wrong in a quartz movement,is there things that reduce the battery life I know absolutely nothing about the inside of a watch lol

It's a circuit board - many more things to go wrong than in a simple mechanical watch.

Where did you get it serviced in 2011? Was it an AD, back to BUK or a high street jewellers?

Reason I ask is that not all replacement batteries are equal. I speak from experience as many years ago whilst I was in Jersey (Uk Channel Islands not USA) my old style Chronospace died on me, and as I use it as a flying instrument, I got one of the local jewellers (who was also a Breitling AD) to change the battery and pressure test. That battery lasted no more than 2 years.

I assumed this was due to his using a generic sub-standard battery. Never had an issue with short battery life from sending my watches in to BUK, but they are much more expensive as they tend to insist on performing a 'maintenance service' as a minimum.

Best to get it sent in and checked ... The last thing you want is to be told that the battery has leaked (one of my on-going fears for the three (four if you count the co-pilot module) Quartz Breitlings I have) as that ends up being a very expensive repair.

Always been looked after by BUK and is now back there,I don't expect to be paying full price for any work done as they assure me the previous service will be taken into consideration so its a waiting game now.

Could be the battery. I recently fitted a new battery in my Heuer Pilot. 5 months later, it was dead. That happens, despite the use by date on the packet, and can be purely from being missed in the QC at manufacture.

As quartz movement problems are so hard to identify the other suggestions here may also be correct. As in all things though, the most likely cause is proabably the correct one. Changing a battery is a fairly low cost excersize, so I would suggest doing this first. Check the used by date of the new battery and make sure its a good quality maker, and the correct size number.

Well the verdict is in from BUK,it needs a complete overhaul and it should be fine so they are deducting the cost of the last service so at least they are being reasonable, only problem it takes 8 weeks but at least it will come back as new. :D :D

Well the watch returned from BUK had a complete overhaul and once again Mrs Alinfrance has a virtually new watch, cannot fault the service and the end result is worth every penny. :D :D :D
