I'm interested in purchasing a Breitling, but I'm not sure which model would be best for me; I'm considering the Lady Cockpit, the Starliner, and the Galactic 30 and 32.

However, after several hours (?!) on the Breitling website and much scrutiny of the photographs I took yesterday in the jewellers, I noticed something very strange. On the website, the Starliner is only available with the Breitling logo on the face in gold. No matter which dial is chosen, the logo is gold. Yesterday, I tried on what I was told was a Starliner which had the logo in silver:

Image

The Logo is the wrong material, and in the wrong place for the Starliner model-- and according to the website, you can't even get the Starliner with 11 diamonds on the face, only 8. Is this even a Starliner at all?

What I would like is a 30mm model with no gold or diamonds on the case or dial. I prefer the size of the Starliner and Galactic 30 to the Lady Cockpit and Galactic 32, but the gold logos on the dials of the smaller watches are putting me off. Is there a 30mm watch with no gold on the dial logo?

I'm very confused and would appreciate any information/advice anyone has for me.

Welcome aboard.
SS Starliners have a White Gold logo, TT or Gold models have Yellow Gold logo.
There's a Special Serie in Rose Gold also.

Thank you! There seems to be a lot of knowledge floating around this board; I'm very impressed! :D

What's the difference between the SS and the TT model? Is it in the dials available, or?

That is a starliner, and the logo is in the right place. Pictures here (including 11 diamond versions) - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... r_143.html

All Breitling applied logos are gold, on the starliner some are yellow gold and some are white gold - this one is obviously white.

edit - Bnewbie beat me to it.

Pretty much the same (except the rolled gold parts).

Is the logo colour linked to the fact that it's an 11-diamond face? The model on the site looks completely different...

Here it is... the older style.
Don't have a reference for the new style.
Looks like new SS also have YG logo.

You guys are amazing, there are so many more options there than the website shows! That'll teach me to go looking for the official source instead of the unofficial one. ;D

I tried one on recently before the one pictured but didn't get the name, and when I couldn't find anything to match it on the website and actually became convinced I'd imagined the details I remembered as being on the one watch! This time I took a photo for proof, so at least I had something to compare it to. I think both models I tried might have been the Starliner, in retrospect, so maybe that's the right model for me, although only if I can get my hands on the older model with the different face, otherwise it's the Galactic 32 for me...

Thanks for being so helpful, everyone.

If you're in the USA, you should find the older style if you search enough. :)

Ireland, actually, and I've been but I trip over to the UK quite a bit so I might have better luck over there, especially now I have reference numbers. :D I've been to the only two shops in my city which carry Breitling (only the diamond version I posted, which is unfortunately out of budget for me right now) but I can try emailing or calling the others around the country!

Try giving the distributor a call, they may be able to tell you which stores have what you want. Not sure who that is in Ireland, but if UK is a possibility call BUK in Tunbridge Wells.

Well, I went back to the dealership I visited last week to enquire about a Galactic 30 and have a look through the book and see if I could find any one without gold on the face, but as soon as we walked in--

Low and behold, the exact Starliner I had my eye on was sitting right there in the store! I had almost given up hope of getting my hands on this one because I thought I'd only be able to get the newer model and had decided to go after the Galactic 30 instead!

Here's a photo:

My camera doesn't perform very well in low light conditions, but I am extremely pleased with my purchase! :lingsrock: It's exactly what I wanted. If I can take better photos tomorrow, I'll post them.

I just wanted to thank everyone, particularly Roffensian and bnewbie for the information; I'd never have known which model I really wanted if not for your help. :D
