Hi Everyone,

I have been away for a few months and I am just catching up on the action now that I am back. I missed a fair bit by the looks of it.

My birthday last week and to my surprise, beloved bought a present for me that left me speechless She has known for some time that I have been in the market for a Sky Racer, and surprised me with this one on the day.

It is brand new of sorts, even though it’s the older version of the SR. Came from a Watch Shop and was used as an 'In Store' demonstrator. A quick polish and a clean, and it looks absolutely new and not too shabby to the eye. It arrived with the authentic inner and outer box, but no paperwork. I have managed to procure a Sky Racer booklet and an authentic Breitling slide rule practice wheel. If anyone knows how to go about getting a certificate and guarrentee booklet for this, I would be interested in the correct procedure to follow. Not sure where to start or if it’s a possibility.

Thank you to Roff who was aware of my lusting for an SR over the past 12 months and his guidance on authenticity. It’s a great watch and one I have already come to enjoy slapping on my wrist without finding an excuse to wear it. The Sky Racer, in my opinion, has all the hallmarks of a classic Breitling watch and one that comes with a lower price point and easy ownership in mind over other Breitling models (not taking away from those other ones of course). Its a fly-boys watch (in leather strap form) and very casual on the eye and a sound mechancial movement. Lovely weight distribution, light and very easy to put up with. I prefer this to the Raven model, but not because of the colourful bezel, but moreover, inspite of the coloured bezels. It just looks choice and cool in stainelss steel, period.

Happiness is a Sky Racer.

Jim

Congratulations. I've always loved the Skyracer. I think it's one of those Breitlings that gets less attention than it deserves. You ought to be able to get a Chronometer Certificate from Breitling in your country (possibly by going thru your local AD) but i don't think you'd be able to get a warranty booklet.

Hi Novacastrian,

Yes, I think so too. It's a great bit of kit and looks just right on my wrist, whereas the Navitimer World Timer is quite a lot bigger and is, in some ways, too big. When you read the spec on both, they are only some 2mm different in size, but they are a world apart on the wrist. But I love them both.

Yes, I will try the House of Swiss Watches in Melbourne next time I am in town. See what they say.

Aren't you up in Newcastle, NSW?

Over

Jim

Yeah in Newcastle. Sorry I didn't realise you are in Oz. Breitling Australia can sell you a new cert for about $50-60 from memory.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome back and the comments on the Sky Racer. Thanks Novacastrian, I will try Breitling Australia for a certificate.

The SR is actually a little lighter than you might first imagine. Well, at least that’s what I noticed when I got it out of the box. There is nothing that really prepares you for the real weight, as it looks and appears to be heavy. B ut its not. Its big, but not that big and it has the weight to match a mid sized watch, I think. Still very prominent on my wrist though like a larger watch. Very weird.
