A few years back I came close to buying a Unimog - amazing pieces of technology. I was going to use it around my property to get to the remote parts in the winter. Only thing that put me off was the difficulty in getting it serviced / repaired.

It's a very bizarre driving experience too - feels disconnected from the terrain, probably because the axles aren't attached directly to the wheels (they are connected through gears so that they can be off centre increasing ground clearance.

A few years back there was a Unimog dealer down the street... doubt he was official as it looked like a used car lot. It was impressive none-the-less with at least 25-30 vehicles

I'd hate to see a repair bill... especially around here where they aren't as common :o
