I have pretty strong math skills, but this one took me a while. You want to buy something for $97, but need to borrow money. Friend A gives you $50 and Friend B gives you $50. You buy the item, and get back $3 in change. You give Friend A and Friend B $1 back each, and you keep the other $1 You now owe Friend A and Friend B $49 each plus the $1 you kept, the total is $49 + $49 + $1 = $99 Where did the other $1 go? |

There is no other dollar. The money you owe A and B is 98 bucks total. You already gave them 2 bucks. 98+2 is 100 bucks. ![]() ![]() I think it's all in the wording. |

Spoiler: the point is: You have to come to $97,-. So You have to say 49 + 49 -1 = 97 BG Thomas |
